Dr Sandie Bohin

Second-opinion neonatology expert at trial

NeonatologyProsecution claim1Court/official

Main contribution

Largely corroborated Dr Evans's conclusions at trial.

Key claim

Supported the air-embolism and insulin theories advanced by Dr Evans.

Criticism

The defence case at trial, recorded in the Court of Appeal judgment, was that she and Dr Evans 'applied skin discolouration as a means of diagnosing air embolus outside any reliable basis for doing so'. The Court of Appeal refused leave on that ground, holding it was not arguable. The February 2025 International Expert Panel, reviewing the same material, reached natural-cause conclusions in the cases at issue.
